The Five Layer System Stack
Every epoxy garage floor we install follows the same build sequence, bottom to top. Skip a layer and the whole system is at higher risk of failing early.
We grind the slab with diamond tooling to open the concrete pores and remove old coatings, oil stains, and laitance so the system has something to bite into.
Slabs that test high for vapor get a moisture blocking primer first, so trapped moisture cannot push the finish coats loose from underneath.
A pigmented, high solids epoxy base coat fills pores, bonds to the prepped concrete, and sets the color foundation for the finish.
Colored vinyl flake is broadcast into the wet base coat to add texture, hide minor slab imperfections, and improve traction underfoot.
A UV stable polyaspartic topcoat seals the flake, adds the chemical and abrasion resistance, and cures fast enough to finish the job in two days.
Read the stack from the bottom up. It builds from bare concrete to a sealed, walkable finish, and every layer depends on the one below it being done right.
That is why we do not sell a single coat product off a shelf. Prep and moisture testing happen before any color goes down, so the finish has a real chance of holding up through a Massachusetts winter.

Every finish uses the same prep and base system underneath. The topcoat and flake choice is where the look changes.
Solid Color
A clean, single color epoxy finish for garages that want a simple, uniform look without added texture.
Quarter Inch Flake
Multi color vinyl flake broadcast to full coverage for a textured, forgiving finish that hides tire marks and everyday wear.
Metallic Epoxy
Pigmented metallic epoxy that moves and pools while curing for a dimensional, marbled finish. No two floors turn out exactly alike.
Custom Blend
A custom color and flake blend built to match a logo, a paint scheme, or whatever look you already have in mind.
A Two Day Install, Start to Finish
Most single garage epoxy installs run on this schedule. Larger spaces may add time, and we will walk you through the exact plan before we start.
We grind the slab, repair cracks and low spots, and vacuum the surface clean of dust and debris before any coating goes down.
The primer or moisture barrier goes down first, followed by the pigmented epoxy base coat and, if selected, the flake broadcast.
Once the base coat has cured enough to walk on, we apply the polyaspartic topcoat that seals the flake and adds the final sheen.
Light foot traffic is fine the same day. We will confirm the exact timeline before you park a vehicle or roll in heavy equipment.
Epoxy Garage Floor Questions We Hear Most
Will hot tires lift the epoxy
A properly installed polyaspartic topcoat over a full epoxy system is built to resist hot tire pickup. The risk goes up with cheap, thin, single coat products, which is part of why we do not sell them.
What if my slab has a moisture problem
We test every slab for moisture vapor before quoting the job. Slabs that test high get a moisture blocking primer as the first layer, so trapped water cannot push the finish coats loose.
How long until the floor fully cures
You can typically walk on the floor within a day and park light vehicles soon after, but a full chemical cure can take a few weeks. We will give you exact timing for foot traffic, vehicle traffic, and heavy equipment before we leave the job.
Should I use a DIY epoxy kit instead
Box store kits are usually a thin, single coat product with little to no grinding or moisture prep behind them. They can work for light use, but they are not built for daily vehicle traffic, road salt, or a cold Massachusetts garage the way a professionally prepped and coated system is.
Can you install epoxy in the winter
Yes, with the right conditions. We monitor slab temperature and humidity and schedule cold weather jobs around what the material manufacturer allows, so the cure is not compromised by New England winter temperatures.
